| Description | Location. The Block-Keller House is located on Canal Street in the mid-city area of New Orleans, La. The house sits on a streetcar line, giving the bed and breakfast easy access to the French Quarter, Garden District and the Mississippi River. City Park, which is home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans Botanical Gardens and the Bayou Oaks Golf Course, is one mile away.
Features. Nestled beneath 100-year old oak trees, this Neo-Classical style villa offers a front porch and an double parlor furnished in fine antiques. Complimentary continental breakfasts are served each morning in the dining room, which features high mahogany wainscoting and stained glass. Conference rooms, and fax and photocopy services are provided. The home is furnished with family heirlooms, ancestral photographs and artifacts left by former residents or collected during the innkeepers' travels. The backyard of the inn offers gardens and an old ruin of a fountain that has been converted into a sunken patio. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Guestrooms. All guestrooms at the Block-Keller House include cable television and complimentary wireless Internet access. Private bathrooms feature granite countertops and jetted tubs or walk-in showers. Select rooms offer floor-to-ceiling windows or overlook the house's gardens. Common sitting rooms are provided on each level of the house.
Expert Tip. The oldest site of racing in the United States, the Fair Ground Race Course, is located approximately two miles from the house. The course is still in operation, and holds races from Thanksgiving through March. |
