| Description | Location. The Galvladi Mountain Inn is perched atop 250 acres of protected Great Smoky Mountains forestland in Sylva, N.C. Big Branch Creek runs adjacent to the inn. Five waterfalls are within five miles of the property. The Smoky Mountain Country Club golf course is approximately 10 miles away.
Features. This log and stone inn, built in 2006, is surrounded by hardwood forests, colorful mountain laurel, wildflowers and a variety of indigenous wildlife. The property offers miles of well-marked hiking trails. Complimentary breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served in the dining room, featuring specialties such as Blueberry Dutch Pancakes, Mango Avocado and Shrimp Salad, and Fennel Crusted Grouper with Citrus Beurre Blanc. Hors d'oeuvres and desserts are offered each evening. The Galvladi Mountain Inn features a vaulted great room with a soaring rock fireplace, a sunny solarium, a library and an exercise room. Outdoor and screened-in porches offer mountain views. Professional massages are available for a fee in one of the tranquil massage rooms. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms feature private bathrooms and satellite television. All rooms are provided with coffeemakers, complimentary coffee and wet bars with refrigerators. The Appalachian Room and the Adirondack Room offer soaking tubs. The Cherokee Room features a wood and iron bed, a see-through stone fireplace between the sitting area and the two-person, stone, waterfall jetted tub, a separate shower and a private patio. The Lake Michigan Room boasts a cottage-style bed, a sitting area with a sofa bed, a stone fireplace and a private covered patio. Expert Tip. The historic relocation of the Cherokee Nation, known as The Trail of Tears, began in Western North Carolina. The word "galvladi" is the Cherokee word meaning "heaven." This Cherokee word signifies the inn's intent to preserve and protect the property with the same respect as the Cherokee people. |
