|DrivingDirections||From Marco Polo Airport:|
From the airport, visitors go by water or by land across the lagoon to historical Venice. By water, the fastest and most expensive way is by water taxi. Less expensive and slower is a boat that stops at other islands in the lagoon and terminates adjacent to St. Mark's Square in St. Mark's Basin, which is just a few yards from the eastern end of the Grand Canal. By land there are taxis and buses that go from the airport to Piazzale Roma, the historical center's land transportation terminus near the train station (Stazione Ferroviaria). From Piazzale Roma (and from the train station on the opposite side of Grand Canal), public waterbuses (vaporetti) go to various stops around the city along the Grand Canal and other major waterways. More expensive water taxis go from Piazzale Roma and the train station more directly to, or near, hotels via smaller canals.
The St. Mark's Basin waterbus stop nearest the hotel is San Zaccaria, which located a few yards away. Guests must ask for directions to a street near the docks called Sotoportego San Zaccaria. Walk straight on that street away from the water to a square called Campo San Zaccaria. Pass through the square to the end and turn left. Turn right at the first street (Campo San Provolo) and proceed until the street bears right and becomes Fondamenta de l'Osmarin, which borders a small canal. Halfway down the street, cross a bridge on the left (Ponte del Diavolo) toward a terra cotta colored building with a facade of stone arches, columns, and balconies. That building is the hotel's palazzo section, where the reception desk is located. The hotel does not display a sign, but the first door on the left in the narrow passage leading away from the bridge is the hotel's entrance.
