    Ramadhaan The Month Of Blessings - Ramadhaan is a month of countless blessings and virtues. The word Ramadhaan is derived from "ramdh" which means "burning of the feet from heat" This is because of the fast, which burns the sins of a Muslim into ashes.

    Important Directives For Ramadhaan - The blessed fasting month of Ramadhaan comes but once a year, and this is a month bestowed with a lot of barakat (blessing).     The Fast (Sawm) - Great merit and credit has been ascribed to fasts in the Traditions and one who keeps fast is in great esteem to Allah. The Holy Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said that one who keeps fast in the month of Ramadhaan for the sake of Allah, all of his sins of the past are forgiven by Him and that the adour of the mouth of one who fasts is most appreciable to Allah than the smell of musk.

    Instructions About Ramadhaan Fast - If intent was made in the previous night then the fast of Ramadhaan on the following morning world be in order. The prime benefit in the pursuit of taqwaa is the suppression of the erratic desires and demands of nafs (based carnal desire), which is always working in collusion with Shaytaan, to spiritually and morally ruin the believer.

    Visibility Of Moon - If due to cloud or dust the moon of Ramadhaan was not visible but a reliable and pious man gave evidence of having seen the moon, then the visibility of moon is proved whether the person is a man or woman.

    Itikaaf Or Seclusion - To retire to a mosque from a little before sun-set on the 20th of Ramadhaan up to the sun-set of 29th or 30th i.e. till the appearance of new moon is called ITIKAAF.

    Breaches Of Fast - If anyone ate something in forgetfulness or indulged in sexual inter-course and thinking that his fast is disrupted ate deliberately, then his fast is disrupted and only compensatory fast and not re-compensation will be due.

    Fidiyah (Recompensation In Cash Or Kind) - If one is too old and has no strength to fast, or is so ill that there is no hope of recovery or has the strength to fast, then he may not fast and for each fast he may give Fidiyah (recompensation) equal to Sadqa-e-Fitr to the poor or feed sufficiently in the morning and evening. This is called Fidiyah in Shariah. Price of grain may also be given.

    Missed Fasts - If some fasts have been missed for some recompensations, they should be kept after the Ramadhaan as soon as possible otherwise it will be a sin to delay them without any legitimate cause.

    Conditions For Not Keeping Fast - If any one is so ill that fasting will be injurious or there is fear of aggravation or it may prolong then such a person may not keep fast and should offer compensatory fast after recovery.

    Vowed Fasts - If anyone vows to keep a fast, then it is essential for him to observe it and non-observance would be a sin.

    When Breaking Of Fast Is Permissible - If anyone fell so ill suddenly that the fast may endanger his life or will aggravate the illness, then it is permissible for him to break the fast on this excuse.

    Nafl Fasts - In an intent for a Nafl fast whether it is specified as Nafl fast or merely a fast, then the intent would be in order in either case.

    Recompensation Of Fast (Kaffaarah) - The compensation (Kaffaarah) of breaking a fast of Ramadhaan is to fast continuously for two months-keeping in instalments is not proper. If due to some reason a fast is missed in the middle, then it should be started again for full two months.

    When A Compensatory Or Recompensatory Fast Becomes Due - If any one, keeping a fast, eats or drinks in forgetfulness or commits sexual inter-course then the fast is not breached even if it is full meal.

    About 'Sehri' and Iftaar - Taking of Sehri is Sunnah. If one is not hungry and has no desire to eat, then two or three dates or some other light food may be taken or some water at least should be drunk.
